Libya hs sentenced medics to death. Six foreigners have been held guilty of infecting 400 children with HIV hence the court has convicted five bulgarian nurses and a Palestenian doctor of deliberately infecting these kids with AIDS virus. Belgaria and european uniuon has condemned this decision by stating the infection was caused due to general unhygienic condiotions in the Benghazi hospital. What is your say in the matter?

I think we need to be very careful what we do for it seems like medics are there to help not infect and ignorance will reign in governments

Interesting, I didn't hear this one. That's just silly, Libyans just want to belame someone for something. Why can't they just play fair and let people help them out?

I do not support this decision, given the information that is available. According to several news reports that I read, UNAIDS has serious doubts as to the accuracy of the scientific testing submitted as evidence in this case, as well as the omission of certain other key factors of evidence which UNAIDS feels would prove that the strains of HIV which the children contracted were present in the hospital long before the accused staff arrived. We have to remember that we are not dealing with the American legal system here; the legal system in Libya works very differently. If there is considerable doubt on the part of UNAIDS, then I would support a decision to hold the verdict pending a proper and thorough investigation. Of course it goes without saying that if the medics are proven to have deliberately infected those kids, then no punishment could be severe enough.

If after proper investigation, it is found that they did deliberately infect the innocent helpless children, then no punishment could ever be 100% fair. They will, though, have to look God in the face on judgement day and explain this to him. Above all else, I think its sad and cruel that someone would infect so many people with such a crucial and awful disease.

I lived in Libya during the reign of King Idris. There were no such crimes in these days. They should be subjected to the same as what they inflicted on others.

If those people did in fact deliberately give 400 children HIV, they deserve whatever they get and then some. Is there any evidence to support or refute the allegations? Is there an article or two you can give? Being in the U.S. with all the upheaval going on over here, I had not heard of this incident.
