Bitten by a Dog?

Have you ever been bitten by a dog before and how old were you at the time? Was the dog infected with any disease? I was 11 years old when I was bitten by a dog, and compared to my size, at the time, the dog was huge. Even though the dog was not rabid or anything, I would not wish this on anybody. Just in case of infections, the doctor had me on 4 injections each and every day for 2 weeks. That’s not counting the pain when the doctor had to dig at the bite site (right ankle) because the blood was clotting slightly at the puncture wound. Even with this experience, I still like dogs.

I was attacked twice by the dog of a friend of my husband's. I was walking to the door, so was my husband, and for no reason the dog jumped out and bit me slightly on the leg. she was a beagle and had never done this before. the second time was worse. my husband and his friend were working in the basement and i went to the car for something. On the way back she came out from under another car and before i knew it had me down on the ground and had sunk her teeth into my calf. We never knew why she did it and why she became mean in the first place..i still love all animals, but i admit i am a little leary of beagles now.

We had a white dog once that acted similar to the dog belonging to your husband's friend. Once when my brother and his wife came to our house, the dog went up to her and "smiled" at her, but once she was going to step on the stair, the dog bit her on the calf. Thanks

I got bitten last week, on the back of the leg. I am 37 years old. I am a FedEx driver so it goes with the job. I was almost bitten today, the stupid wench who owned the dog thought it was funny. The mutt grabbed my pants leg and almost tore a hole in it.

I also had a job which required going to different properties to inspect the improvements. I was constantly faced with mean dogs myself, but I just kept on walking past them, not showing any fear (although I was scared stiff).

I was bitten once by a dog. It was my dog. She was sleeping and I went to give her a kiss. I must have scared her because she bit me right in the chin. I had a nice little hole for awhile but nothing serious. The dog had all her shots so I didn't have to worry about rabies. It was my own fault and I learned a leason. This didn't make me afraid of dogs at all.

You know, what happened to you reminds me of an incident that happened to me with our dog recently. She was also sleeping and I sneaked up very quietly up to her and barely tapped her on the back. She jumped up, growled at me, not knowing what was happening, and VERY VERY quickly realized it was me. You could tell she was Extremely embarrassed that she had growled at me. Thanks

My mom was bitten by a dog when she was a child, and the funny thing is.. she is a dog lover! And yes, I was bitten by a few dogs in my life... I like dogs, I am not nearly as much of a dog lover as my mom is but I do like dogs. Me being bitten by these dogs never really affected me I don't think anyway.

Yes, I have been bitten by several dogs. When I was 3 my drunk parents weren't paying attention and let a dog get me, I had over 100 stitches, and it almost tore my right ear completely off... Then, when I was about 11-12 I was attacked by a chow walking to school TWO DAYS IN A ROW!! Nothing was ever done to the dog, or the owners... I stay away from all dogs except the one I own! ~Happy Holidays~

I think the owners should have been responsible for what their dog did in every aspect. You should try not to show the dog, any dog, that you are afraid. They can sense your fear. Thanks

Oh my gosh, Do you know how hard it is. I can't help it, I'm just terrified! I try not to show it but it does show. And I'm telling you what, You've never seen a woman run so fast, with so many kids in-tow when I see a dog coming at us!!!!!!! I guess I might need therapy, lol.

yes I have been bitten by a dog but it was my stupidity that caused it. I was about 8 years old. I had a German Shepard and we were out walking around and this little beagle came up and started a fight. Well in my 8 year old wisdom I thought that I needed to save my big dog from the little dog, so I got down on my hands and knees and tried to get inbetween the two dogs. Well of course the beagle came right at me and bit me right on my cheek. That was all my dog could handle and he let the beagle have it and then I climed on his back and he took me home. He was a great dog. Anyways, I did have to go to the doctors and they fixed me up and yes Ihad to have injections as well. The worse part was that a week later there was so much puss inside the bite that I had to go back to the doctors and they had to slice my cheek open to let it drain. I still have scars on my cheek. You live and learn and I have never interferred with dogs fighting anymore.

You say it was your fault that you got bitten. The same thing happened in my case, too. You see, this was a friendly dog. I used to play with it on the way home from school every day, but this particular day, it was eating out of its food dish and as I was passing by, I moved its dish with my foot. Instantly, it caught me by the right ankle and didn't want to let go. To make a long story short, it was sad to know that they had to cut its head off to check if it was rabid. It was Not. Thanks

40 Pound Standard Bronze Turkey - Very friendly tom
Strange response, but thank you for sharing your experience with us. By the way, have you ever been bitten by a 40 pound Turkey? Now those have Big sharp beaks and they can easily draw blood. One of these.

When I was 9, a dog bit my arm. It was my mom's friend's dog and it wasnt rabid. Before this experience, I always used to get scared of dogs but after this I became quite friendly with them. I dont remember the number of injections which i got at that time. And I love dogs!!

My cousin was bitten by a wild mouse. While my mother was on the phone to a doctor asking whether she should take my cousin in for injections against diseases, she could hear screaming; my cousin had been leaning over the neighbours fence and was bitten (on the same finger as the mousbite) by the neighbours dog. It was quite an eventful day, that one. However, I've never been bitten by a dog.

Yes, I was bitten by dog, when I was 30 years old. While I'm walking, it came behind me and caught hold of my calf muscle and I screamed and it let me go. The dog's teeth made deep wound. Next day I went to see the doctor and he advised me to take 12 injuctions around my naval. It's a horrible experience... and I never forget.... from then onwards I take utmost care while I walk on the streets.
