My son was at school and a child hit him, he has never been to a public school his big brother saw him and told him to go back to classhe walks him back he doesn't go into class and sneaks off like a spy and crosses a busy street and comes home.
During all this he talked to 2 teachers and didn't eat lunch. They didn't call me until 45 minutes later.
I was so angry I was walking around my house fuming. How could they let my child get away and mind you I went up there 2 days later and no one stopped me to ask if I went to the office or not and I stod there and watched the children play no teacher was on the yard.
I could have been a killer, child molester whatever and no one said anything. I complained and my son went back to school but its just upsetting to know no one questioned me. What do you think?

Since there has been so much in the news lately about bullying and child safety, how could the teachers/volunteers etc. not have noticed or,when informed, taken it seriously? As a parent,I would be upset!

Thinking that a teacher can keep track of all kids at all times is a rediculous thought. It is your son's responsibility not to walk home from school not the teachers. Teachers have HUGE classes and do not take roll every 10 min. I think you should be punishing your son.

I thought that was why we have so many volunteers at the schools? Also, the idea that the child talked to 2 teachers and they did nothing does not help a child's self-esteme.While i understand what you are saying about the child walking home,I also think it should have ever reached that level where the child felt unsafe at school.
Plus, thank you for the discussion! It is great to exchange ideas and suggestions!!

If they would close the gates he wouldn't have gotten away and I did say he talked to 2 teachers and he is 6 and this is his first time in PUBLIC SCHOOL.I'm glad you aren't a teacher and if you are I hope you don't tell other parents that teachers can't watch all the children.when there is supossed to be teachers at the gate at recess and lunch.

I did and they now know I am not playing about my children. I also talked to my son and explained to him he should not leave school and that if he has anymore trouble to call mommy no matter what. Thank You

Oh my, you have every right to be angry and scared. If your son wasn't in class the teacher should have known about it and notified you. Also the schools should not let strangers stand around without questioning them, children should not be unsupervised outside. I too would be outraged. Our children are supposed to be safe at school, it seems that it is not safe at school anymore.

I wold go talk with the Principal and go to the school board. There is no reason that they should not be supervised at all times. I would be fuming.

I'm assuming that this is a public school. I would take this up with the teachers, principle, school board, superintendent, anyone and everyone! Get all the parents together and have a meeting. Don't let this slide! What would they have done if your son got hit by a car or kidnapped? Pull your child out of that school, maybe when they aren't getting the money for your son to attend that school, they might acknowledge their wrong doing!
