I am from India. India is famous for its Music. We have different type of Classical musics and they are varying again from Gharana to Gharana, which implies that there has been a lot of research done in the classical Music in India. There have been some great singers in the History of India like Famous Tansen, Baiju Bawra etc. In the modern age also there are some very good singers who are simply geniuses in their field of music. This includes the names like Pundit Bhim Sen Joshi, Venu Madhavan, JagJit singh, Anup Jalota, Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh wadkar etc etc. But popular singer is the one who makes every individual happy or for a common man he brings pleasure through his singing! In my opinion that position can undoubtedly be given to late Kishore Kumar who practically conquered the Hindi Film Industry as a Singer, Comedy Actor, Hero, director and Producer! He entered Hindi film Industry as an Actor where he used to play the role of Hero with a fantastic sense of Humor and gradually he entered into singing and has never seen back there after! Born in the Khandwa, a City in the Madhya Pradesh Kishore Kumar belongs to a Traditional Bengali Brahmin Family. But his accent in Hindi was so clear and clean that no body ever felt that he was from a non- Hindi speaking family! His songs which he sang for Hindi films were simply superb! He was expert in singing comical songs and his such songs like mere samnevali Khidki mein, Ek Chaturnaaar, from Padosan, Dekha na Hai re socha na Hai re from Bombay to Goa are ever green! His serious type songs like the one from Who shaam, kuch ajeeb this from Khamoshi, Ghunghroo ki taerah bajta hi raha from Chor machaye Shor, Zindagi ka safar from Safar , makes one heart bleed when heard seriously. His singing style not only had sweetness, depth, melody and charm of attracting the audience, he had the knack of matching his voice to different Heroes. He sang practically for all the heroes of the film industry like Dev Anand, Dharmendra, Ranjendra Kumar, Amitabh Bacchan, and Rajesh Khanna and even to much younger generation till the time he was alive! This self styled genius never had any formal training from any where but then he was perfect in singing the songs and some classical singers used to feel it hesitant to sing with him because of the ease with which he used to mend the notations! This singer was moody and had a very different temperament, it is said that he never had much belief on human beings and that’s why he use to talk with his plants like human beings . He was married 4 times . His short temperament made him as a victim by Late Sanjay Gandhi and his songs were banned on AIR , some where in seventies ! Can you believe within one week they have to switch back to his songs as there were no good songs available without Kishore Da and People were also very angry with this move of Government! Thus if I start mentioning about this Singer who is also a favorite of mine a big book can be written, but I think this much should be sufficient for the discussion ! Thanks and All the best!

Though Im a fan of Springsteens work away from the E Street Band, its still beautiful in a haunting, personal way. His ballads are touching, and they do an amazing job of relaying the emotions hes singing about. It makes sense that hes probably one of the only artists who can schedule six shows in Philadelphia (as he did on his 1999 E Street Band reunion tour) and sell out each and every one of them.
