A new lawsuit is challenging the American government's right to read your e-mail. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that a seller of "natural male enhancement" products sued after a fraud indictment based on evidence gleaned from his electronic mail. Federal prosecutors say they don't need a search warrant to read your e-mail messages if those messages happen to be stored in someone else's computer." Do you think the American govnt should be allowed to read people's email?

Well first of all, we need to distinguish that this is a criminal case, not just eavesdropping. Secondly, the emails aren't the physical property of the person and if they aren't on the computer they can't get to, they are just information saved on a different computer. I'd think it would depend on what email service you were using. They probably have different rules and TOS and EULA.
