English as First and Only Language

It seems as if Spanish is slowly but surely gaining in terms of usage in the US. You can't call customer service nowadays without hearing "Press 1 for English". You see Spanish translations everywhere. I know of some Hispanics who have lived in the US for a long time but hardly speak a word of English- they don't need to anymore! I don't think this helps in keeping the country united, do you?

i think it does because by offering a Sapnish option you are making Spanish speaking people feel acknoledged and this sense of acceptance brings unity.
