What happened to Green Day? Did they "political opinion" themselves to death?

Here they were with such great hits as When I Come Around, and the entire album of American Idiot, which so profoundly made a portrait of the Middle East Crisis. I think we all have our own opinions about who the Idiot was...ahem... In any case, this wonderful band suddenly just dropped into oblivion. I do so enjoy their music and I listen to my CDs often. I just keep wondering if maybe they will come out with something new. Or did the strong political bias of American Idiot destroy them? Perhaps the CIA has secreted them away like the Nazis did to the Jews. I sure hope not. I happen to agree with their views on things, and I also really love their music. They have such versatility in style and an overall quality that is hard to find in their genre of music, in my opinion.
