Beagles....what are your likes/dislikes about this breed?

The reason I am asking this question is because my husbands friend has to get rid of his Beagle for personal reasons and asked if we would be interested. I already have a Golden Retriever and have considered getting another dog. Before making my decision, I thought it would help to get advice from people that have a Beagle or have experience with this breed. If you could tell me your likes/dislikes about this breed or any kind of warnings that pertain to this breed, or just your over all experience with Beagles, I would very much appreciate it.
