As far as i am aware a plus rating to an answer gives the person who replies an extra rating point and if you give them a minus rating it may knock a point off. It is always nice to have a plus rating because it encourages you to keep on posting . However, only mylot know these things for sure

i hope so, i only rate if i'm going to give a plus. i do rate +/- if it's not a good discussion, but then i don't comment.

If a negative rating is marked then there will be some less cents of that day i think. But sure that no rating is decreased!!!

I don't know either but I think it would be nice if they gave us more information on how exactly they base our pay. At the same time it makes it more challenging that way because we have to do what we think is important and aren't having the answers spelled out for which would make it too easy. I rate positives for ones I really like if I remember and have never given a negative but will start if I find ones I really dont like. I also thought we got more points for starting a discussion than replying but the only time I ever see my points go up is when I reply. Does that happen to anyone else?

yeah, that would be nice, but not sure if they will.... i have given negs, and i get points when i start discussions, i guess only if they're good ones you get points

Well, I think it doesn't actually affect their earnings, but when soemone reports abuse (!) then seriously endangers someones existance in mylot.

Yeah I second that! I too, don't think it affects earnings at all. The only button that is relevant is the "Abuse" button for reporting abusers or spammers. I mean, otherwise there will be lots of fraud ratings going around.

Hum... good question, i'm not to sure what they're for, but if it's a good question, i give them a plus, if not a minus!

Yes the ratings which you give to the responses affect their earnings even though it is marginally. And also if anyone rates your discussion then your incomes from that particular discussion get affected. I have personally experienced this. You can also try it out. Please inform me the results by adding a comment here. Thank You!

they affect people's earnings. But it's also important that the person who started a discussion chooses a best response, it's like a + rate.
