I was just looking on one of those wondrous gadgets of all descriptions web sites .. when I came across 'Digital Binoculars' .. whaa-aat the .. blimey ... what the heck are they I thought ...
Utterly brilliant .. whoever thought up making binoculars go digital is a clever genius ... it's taken the humble binocular which has been around for donkeys years and given it a completely new look ...
The ones I found are not just a pair of binoculars but can take still and video shots of what you are looking at ... how cool is that ... fantastic for bird watchers, horse race goers etc etc .. best of all it even has a decent sized preview screen .. so you can see all the action going in in the distance on the little screen without having to squint to look through the eye pieces ...
At under £230 (just over US$350) I reckon they are incredibly good value .. truthfully I have absolutely no need for such a marvellous digital device ... but I would still love to have a pair ...
What gadget do you desire ... even if you have no use for it ??

I can see now the twitchers grabbing this technological device for sure. That sounds brilliant being able to take shots of what you can actually see. I find it hurts my eyes if I stare down the lens for too long. £230 seems quite reasonable, although in a few years time I can see them being reduced to half the price. Like everything else when it first comes out its expensive but give it a few years and the price will be more affordable. I would love x-ray specs but I can't see them being invented this or the next century, shame that! But I'd use it for all the right reasons, naturally ;0)

Errr ... I did actually put a picture in my post ... but even as I was posting MyLot were changing the rules yet again and so my picture wasn't allowed as I haven't the required 500 rating or whatever you need now ...
Anyway ... they look like standard binoculars and have all the usual 50x zoom and stuff ... but on top of the binoculars was the viewing screen .. something like a video camera set up ... and you can then take pictures too ...
Yes very much like a digital camera but with all the better big zoom features and of course binocular vision which gives far more pleasing viewing than one lens ..
Sorry the picture didn't get shown as my original post would have made a bit more sense ... !
