...together on Christmas Eve? I always read the story from Luke to my husband. The words are beautiful, and it reminds us what we're celebrating.

yes we read it in christmas eve, just before we start to christmas supper. it is nice tradition but the thing is that every year is read the same part of bible. i feel bored to hear it over and over again during 20 years. i know it describes the time but at least they could change the apostle who writes it... but im not head of the family so icant ask them to change it.

Unfortunetly we do not read the Christmas Story. I guess it's probably because we go to Christmas Eve Service and we hear the story of Jesus there. It is something that I have always wanted to do though. Just haven't taken the time to do.

I live alone now. I do wish we had started this tradition when I had a family at home though. I think it's beautiful.

Well, we have done this a time or two. The problem seems to be anymore finding the time to sit and relax and enjoy especially at that time of yr. I work a Full time job in the evenings, and my husband works days so time is limited a lot anymore.

Nope, we don't do that. We hardly touch the Bible anymore.

I just want to say that Christmas is not in the Holy Bible. The birth of the Lord Jesus Christ of course is in the New Testament which is the second part of the Holy Bible. The Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem at a time when the shepherds were outside to tend their flocks and they heard the good news and went to worship Him. Accordingly, in the month of December, shepherds could not stay outside shepherding their flocks because of the weather - too cool for them to stay outside at night. And so therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ could not have been born December 25. In the entire Bible also, nothing is mentioned of anybody celebrating the birthday of the Lord nor any occasion for the celebration thereof. Christmas was instituted by the Roman Catholic Church heirarchy. Their members or the Catholics follow the Catechism which embodies their doctrines or teachings, one of which is Christmas.
