Should music be a compulsory subject in schools?

A quick peek around most of the schools and it is noticed that not much attention is paid to music. Music often takes the back seat and in doing so we may have overlooked many Shakiras, Madonnas ,Cliff Richards. So by straining it as a compulsory subject would it help us find the talent hidden within every graduating batch??

I do agree with you. With the loads and overloads of stressful syllabus music could be quite an uplifting means to de-stress the little minds at work. Besides it need not be hours of music, even half an hour of music would work wonders to relax a tired mind.
