Can anyone continue being themselves after entering a relationship with the opposite gender?

If you can't be yourself you're with the wrong person. I wanted someone who loved ME for ME. Likewise, I didn't try to change my husband. Living a different identity cannot last forever... and a marriage should last forever. Just my humble opinion, but for me Love Means never having to be untrue to yourself and never expecting your mate to be untrue to themselves.

I've been married to him for just over 20 years. We dated for about a year and a half. Got married when I was 24 and he was 32.
