What the heck are these guys doing?

I looked around in the new discussion sector and I found that it's fulled of crap and rabbish. And I saw that one man put up more than a hundred one sentence post like "what can we do about..." "Does ..." "Is ..." I believe that people who read their posts surely don't know what they are talking about. The worst thing is those real quality posts are submerged by these junks. Can't we do anything to stop this? It seems they are against the guideline but they are against most member's interest. Do you have any good idea?

its interesting because these members (and i know EXACTLY who you are talking about) do not seem to realize that you dont get paid for posting discussions abnd that you are only hurting yourself (through the rating system) if you post them...i would just inform them of that and see if it helps please give mew a good rating(i already did you) i like this discussion...its real haha

This weezy guy is truly an idiot! Here is one of his MANY, and I mean many useless topics. "Do you think Santa is stealing my bread ties when he comes to my house?" He's all over the "New Discussions" with these ridiculous posts.

The best thing to do i think is to alert mylot and hopefully they will get around to dealing with these people.

They are just trying to figure out the aglorithm to make more money. They think the more discussions they have the more money they will make. They will find out this is not true, we get paid by many methods and MY LOT is very good about rewarding post that are good. The only way to make theirs go to the bottom is start some newer better discussions. It is irritating but I don't know how they could be weeded out.

Yeah, I know they don't get any money, but they also make people can't find the quality discussion from new discussions because they are all submerged by those junks.

From what I understand you need to give them the negative rating. The other thing I've been doing is using the search box to find discussions to join in.

I have also noted that and I know whom you are referring to. Actually many fail to recognize that myLot has changed since it had started it's operations. I feel they will come to know about myLot better when they stay here for longer periods. myLot has already improved into a quality discussion zone. I think we all should try our best to keep it like that.

Is that those topics that posting their family issues or Love affairs issue are fallen into your so-called "What Can we do", "does" or "is" categories? Learnandearn! I started my topic for helping people to do Divination or Fortune Prediction for free, but there are no one interested to ask or look my topic! So weird, free stuff no one enjoy, just that they enjoy u to response their post XD!

There was one about if some place had furniture. I think the name is weezy. Does anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Alright, this is stupid. One of his discussions is "My christmas tree just grew wings, took all of our gifts and flew away. What should I do?". What are we supposed to say to this?

Maybe if enough people report them, their posts will be removed. But I guess they'll just keep coming back. Now I just look at the "recent discussions". The "new discussions" page is just too cluttered.

I'm having trouble finding any discussions today. It's taking so long to sort through all of the garbage in new discussions, recent discussions, and discussions with no responses. A lot of us who are trying to make this a decent site with quality discussions are spending so much time reporting abuse and giving negative ratings that we're unable to think to post ourselves...

I find the recent discussions a little bit better/easier to browse. But yes, it's still difficult to find good threads. And when you do find a thread and post something, more than half of the time people don't reply or they just don't want to discuss things, so carrying a conversation is nearly impossible. They're all too busy trying to make that extra cent, I suppose.

I think "new discussions" are all included in "recent discussions". "Recent discussion" may seem better, that's because it contains recent replied discussions. What if you wanna find some quality zero replied discussions? They are in the way behind pages in "recent discussions". Anyway, thank you for your opinion.

Unfortunatly this is always the case no matter where you go, you get some lazy fool who thinks to himself "hey I know... If I spam mylot with stupid pointless one sentence topics then I might make some more money".. Don't they realise that first of all, mylot accumulates all the posts at the end, and then basically filters out the stupid 1 sentence or 1 word topics. which reduces that persons ranking. Plus theres this wonderful system on mylot called the ranking system which allows you to give a negative rating which is what I do followed by a report user to mylot.

There is more than one person doing this. I've seen at least three. One day it's one person and the next day it's another or both doing this. One had asked to be my friend. That was before I knew they were going to spam the discussions. When I woke up next morning my email box was full of their discussions. I answered two or three before I realized there were so many. I promply went to the "friends" part of my profile and turned the button off for emails on new discussions from that person. A couple of days later I had another similar incident and I did the same thing again and I don't post to those discussions because I don't want to encourage that kind of behavior and junk discussions.

I see these too! They bug me but mylot is paying attention to us. When you see these discussions, take the time to REPORT these cheaters and losers and give them a negative rating! It helps all of us. Also, I have a yahoo group for all of us to work together... It's on my profile!

I agree with you. I think they should make two different discussion rooms. One for the idiots and one for the people who really want to have a discussion about something. Asking someone what color their eyes are doesn't qualify as a discussion to me. I think most of the people here are just in it for the money so they write silly stuff and people will respond because they want the money too. I try to go for the better discussions rather than answering with just one or two words. I've been on here for awhile and haven't even made $5 yet. That's because there aren't many discussions going on that spark my interest. I do wish they'd do something about it.

God created the yahoo group so we could take over mylot. Muhaww! Just kidding. However, the yahoo group will help reduce the spam. Just report and it will be deleted. I love mylot for instant deletion. Does mylot have volunteer moderators or what?

I know that MyLot admin clean up the discussions, but i think they need to do it more often, because i have read through some of the posts and i have only responded to about 5 today because they are full of absolute rubbish.

I totally agree. This weezy guy posted "My christmas tree just grew wings, took all of our gifts and flew away. What should I do?" & "How many soccer teams are there in the world?" I like to keep up to 25 responses a day but today has been crap because a lot of the discussions I just have no interest in responding to. Only a few today worth responding to. I've tried to stick with my friends' discussions. That helps.

It's a good idea to reply friends' discussions, at least avoiding to see those rubbish.

I dont think you have to worry too much about this as the people who are doing this and the respondants to these type of discussions are quickly negatively rated by MyLot users and then the participants start complaining that their post counts starts dropping. With the new MyLot regulations its becoming more and more difficult to get away with these types of junk posts. Also, I think its important that we (the real MyLot community) do not participate in these types of dicussions at all, this will naturally select against these type of users and they will change their tactics soon or leave MyLot.

Good idea, but it's not enough. I think mylot should implement stronger measures to stop these disgusting guys, like exclusion.

Lots of people with time on their hands are trying to cheat the system. I'm being patient and sticking with it though, because MyLot is bound eliminate this chaff. It's not good for them either. Don't let it be discouraging. Just ignore and move on.

24 Dec 06
Yeah, but now I'm more discouraged to see that junky guy turns out to be today's top user, and still some "kind and ignorant" people replied his rabbish discussions. Maybe some people would think I'm jealous or something, but when sometime you can't find other discussions except someone's junk discussions in the first few pages of "new discussions", maybe you will know what I mean.

23 Dec 06
Well maybe we have to defined first what is quality posting. Because it is always that what is quality for them is not quality for you. The guidelines only says do not post topics answerable with yes or no. Meaning this kind of topics are not quality.
• China
24 Dec 06
Yes, I agree with you, but when they harm most of members' interest, should we still think it's quality?

23 Dec 06
something has to be done by mylot team... atleast restrict the number of discussions one can post...its surely not going to unlimited
