Big Brother

December 22, 2006 9:10pm CST
Soon the next celebrity Big Brother will be broadcast on UK TV. Last year Dennis Rodman and Tracey Bingham were on the show, for all you people in America. Although it was fascinating to watch, these celebrities battled with their ego's and lost to an unknown member of the public in cognito. I do ask myself whether I should watch this crap. However, I am gripped every year. Why? Is it my curiosity to people watch or just my sadistic side coming out to see these celebrities totally humiliate themselves. What are your views.

They haven't really tried a celebrity version of the show over here in the U.S., but I would be interested in seeing just how it played out. I am a fan of the show, and have always enjoyed the twists and turns. They just had an all-star version of BB this past summer, but I have not heard what next summer will be like. Why are we intrigued? I don't know. We must just like the drama and competitive nature that the game creates with each player.

What is an all-star version of BB. In the UK we have a BB that has members of the public. This year was evil. However, I was compelled to watch as it was so interesting to see how people behave in this unnatural environment. They all start off such good friends but it doesn't take long for them to turn on each other. Even though they know this show, as it has been going for years. There are rumours that Britney Spears ex is going to be on the new BB next week. In the past Jackie Stallone was on with Bridget Nielson, that was weird. Some celebs will do anything for fame. We had David Guest on another reality show I'm a celebrity, Get me out of here! Have you heard of this one? Our TV in the UK is over run with celeb reality shows. Thanks for your response!!

I have watched every season of Big Brother in the U. S. but the closest thing we have to a Celebrity Big Brother is Surreal Life aired on VH 1 (music station) which, ironically, Tracy Bingham was also on : ) I'm sure we watch because it's like a human science project... I enjoy reality TV because it's unscripted and you get to see what people are really made of. Plus, the celebrities already make too much money for entertainment value. Some people even live vicariously through the show contestants or can really relate to a specific player. I know I always have my favorites, a different reason for each ; ) I like to vote for the 'underdog'(Hot Drew from Ohio) or sometimes the 'alpha dog' (Dr. Will & Janelle). I heard that the U. K. BB is less censored and way more entertaining... if only there were a link???

Bib Brother is definately less censored, we are able to watch about anything after 9:00pm. There is a site but you have to live in the UK or Ireland to watch it 24/7. However, if you are interested in reading about it it starts on 3rd January on Channel 4 www.channel4.com/bigbrother I don't know if it shows free clips or not. I think a few American celebs are going in. I just hope it can top lasts years as that was surreal!! Thanks for your response. Happy New Year!!!

That is really interesting because we don't have a celebrity version. I can't imagine what that would be like. I do love the show though. It takes me a couple of weeks to get use to the characters and then I am totally hooked. I really loved our last one because it was an all-star version which was the best from 6 previous seasons.

I bet that was good. I don't know whether they would do that here as some of the winners have become celebs themselves. The celeb one in the UK is always those who are trying to get back their careers. They go in with all intentions to make the british public like them, but after a few days all the ego's erupt and their true characters come out. Last years was great because a woman won who had to pretend she was a celeb to the others, which she pulled off. She won against a UK celeb who used to be the most popular man on TV Michael Barrymore. Thanks for your response!!

There are celebrity big brothers? I don't think I've ever seen one over here. I loved Big Brother All Stars and I think for me I get hooked on watching people trick each other, scheme, lie and cheat! And then watching those who trusted them go home crying. I know that sounds mean, but after 6 or 7 seasons of the show, people should learn that it is just a game and they shouldn't trust anyone! I don't believe people should be upset just because they are outplayed, but it happens year after year.

Thanks, that made me laugh. I love the fact that they go in there all ego's ablazing and come out completely deflated.

I'm with you! I loved watching All Stars! And some, who I thought played well during their season, totally sucked on Big Brother All Stars. You would think they would learn!

I think the reason most of us are gripped by the show is because these are real people. Most seasons 1 or 2 people are similar to someone we know. Also it is interesting to see what the show makes these people do in stunts and games.
