In today's society,I think that some of the teachers are just in the school to get a paycheck,my friend has a child in a public school.the child never comes home with any homework,he seems to know less than he should for a fourth grader.his mom contacted the teacher to see if maybe her child was just not bringing his homework home.the teacher said that they do all the work in the classroom.that does not sound right to mem.my friend has start to buy books to help to educate her son on her own.My question is,What is the purpose of having a teacher,if the child is not being taught?,what is the best way to approach this problem?

if u want to know how to increa your child brain and IQ or someting like that. only two things: 1. Formal education will make a living this is teacher job. 2. Self education will make a fortune this is your job for your kids 3. Informal education this is u job too to teach your kids. so not only teacher job.you too.

I understand what you mean. I have had teachers that really don't teach us anything at all. They would give us homework, telling us to read the textbook to learn the lesson, and then check it the next day. They expected the textbook to teach us, not them.

exactly! I asked this same question in one of my own discussions. I do alot of teaching with both of my girls. I do think they do teach, somewhat, but not enough one on one. When I looked at the responses at my question, alot of folks did say it was up to the parent to make sure the kids learn. go figure.

Of course most teachers educate children. But in public schools you can't expect every teacher to make an effort teaching every child that she handles. We know that public schools are so crowded so parents should be more patient to teach their kids on academic subjects. But if your friend can afford it private schools are more advanced. I also have a kid studying in private school but I set a time in a day that we review her lessons so that she will master the topics and she will not be left behind by her classmates. Even without homeworks you should instill to a child the importance of studying her lesson for her to develop a habit until she finished school.

Teachers, these days, are not loyal and sincere to their work. They don't pay attention to make pupil better persons in life, they don't educate them in a proper and decent manner. They are not paying any attention to what they are paid for. All they care is getting their monthly wages and thats it. They don't teach correct mannerism, correct way of learning and proper concepts of any subject to the children.

The IQ of children in this generation and future generations is/will be higher. The subjects they are covering for children now a days say for VIII standard, we could study them only in X standard. That means the children are stuffed with too many things, probably thinking that they are capable of understanding.

if he is in public school i'll suggest parent to go and discuss this problem with the teacher. There might be any miss understanding or may be parent is unable to understand the strategy.

the difficulty teachers have is that they have all got targets to meet, consequently they teach only to examinations. Education is lost in this process and if a parent can be bothered the only thing they can do is teach the child at home and let the schools do their worst. I am a teacher and i see these problems every day. The only way we can get back to educating children is to get rid of targets and testing

Well I think we all know what the purpose of a teacher is, and I do think they are being taught. But, I don't think they teachers have the same dedication they had when I was young or when my parents were young. I feel that a lot of teachers today do just want the paycheck and do only what they *need* to do, as defined in their union contract, etc. There are some jewels out there, and I think you're lucky if you find one. I take the stance of assisting the education of my daughter by teacher her stuff as well. You can never know enough!

Some of our teachers do a great job,and they love to see an improvement in their students, but when only personal gains are met education becomes scarce.

i also feel the same...nowadays most of teachers are there in schools for getting the paychecks and also to get some students for tuitions...they sometime compel students to take tuitions from them...the best way to solve this problem is to constantly monitor the progress of ur child...try to help him/her understanding the topics which r taught in the school.

Shouldn't you really be already doing that? Promoting education and learning starts at home, not in the class-room.

well some are so but you have to respect the ones who still hold the educaional principle, because i think they do not get proper "payback" from us, what they think now is just getting a better salary

I want to tell u my story,I am a student and about 1-2 years before i was searching of for tutions. As i was new there so i didnt knew what kind of teachers were waiting for me.on the first itself I had to pay half of the amount of money then i used to go daily but that teacher was a cheater, everyday he used to scold us without reason and told to bring money everyday from house,if not go back and never come back was his answer.Truely he wanted the money and not a persons education.and bcos of him we r in trouble of our exam which went bad in such an important time of our life.

you know, i dont really think that teacher make us to be a genius... how it can be, the teacher it self are not a genius person... u can see for ur self, some times teacher are not ready to accept positive input from their student, n make a skeptic judgement to their student... the effect is, many student dislike their teacher, and then the process of study wont work at all....
