If you had a fight your partner resolving issue overnight

I just had a big fight with my partner. Its been a week now since it started. I knew that if couple had a fight they must resolve it overnight or before going to bed. In my case we are both working in different time schedule we cant resolve the issue immediately. Is there an advantage if you resolve the issue overnight? How can you calm yourself and discuss the issue in an peaceful manner? Would you accept the peace offering if the issue still undiscussed?
