I am looking for fellow Pagans. I am trying to find some people I can connect with that don't think of me as some sort of freak that needs to be preached at. Although if you are looking for a religious discussion by all means respond, and I will respond.

ha ha I don't go looking for religious discussions because everyone is so hypersensitive about their religion. I, too, have been preached at and how found that I have amazing control of keeping my mouth shut during those times. Only because I have respect for other religions and knowing each person has to find their own path. With that said, I am also Pagan. So, Merry Meet! :)

Then on to the friends list you go! I don't know how many times I have been preached at. The worst time was just before sitting down to eat in a restaurant! But all we can do is hope that they are comfortable in the religion of their choosing. Blessed Be :)

Oh! and as far as looking for a religious discussion, I kinda like to see what they try to pull to get me to convert. NEVER happening, The Goddess has welcomed me to fully to be pushed away.

I agree, a person can talk to me until she or he is blue in the face...and I have had that happen...no they didn't turn blue but I kinda wish they would have, ha ha. But I have had people try to convert me. And I am so strong in my faith, it is not going to happen. I try to tell these people that...but for some reason, they don't listen. ha ha So I let them just talk it out until they are exhausted.

I'm not pagan, but it's a religion that I really like. (I'm fascinated by religions - was studying them at university) I'm agnostic, and I pick and choose different parts from different religions that I either a) agree with or b) find fun! I started doing a Wicca 'course', but unfortunately all sorts of things got in the way so I havent got very far with that yet. So in fact I know very little about Wicca - but what I do know I like! Anyway, I empathise with the being preached at scenario. When I was at school I used to receive letters saying 'we are praying for you'. I would say 'thanks - I appreciate that - I shall pray for you too!'. I was also for some odd reason known as the local witch. So people preaching at me doesn't even penetrate anyone. I sometimes find it funny, but more often I feel a bit sad for the people doing it.

As I said earlier the worst experience for me was at a restaurant. the guy that was across the asile from my family an I looked over saw me, I know you cant tell from the photo but I have hair to the middle of my back, saw my wife, She has two visible tattoos, notices my pinnicle on my right ring finger then starts repeating the "Lords Prayer" After 20 minutes of this we finally got tired of listening to him and requested a table in the non-smoking section. Afterthought: This was before my son was born, I don't smoke anywhere near him.

I grew up in an extremely tightly knit, conservative, gossipy community, where you were known according to which of the MANY (christian) churches you attended. And if you happened to enjoy having your sunday lunches at the Hare Krishna temple then you weren't 'known', you were 'notorious'! As for your restaurant incident! Oh my heavens!!!! What pitiable people!!! I think I would have started chanting mantras. Or asked them if they required medical assistance...

My wife wanted to do something similar, but me being the one that most people were staring at I convinced her to just move tables, quietly.

*waves* Fellow pagan here. Have been since I was about 14 years old =) I personally love getting into religious discussions with the zealots because most of them do not know that book that they thump around as well as they claim! It is funny to see the response you get when you quote something from the bible that they were not aware of and did not think that you knew. Anywhoo.....I think that went off on a tangent but I am sure that there are many pagans out there. Thank goddess the internet or I would have gone beserk when I chose a different path!

As far as discussions about religion, I know what you mean about bible-thumpers not knowing their religion as well as they think. It has been brought to my attention that the whole cursades thing was enacted by "fake" christains. I couldn't help but laugh. and I am still laughing about it. I wonder how many of the millions of people they slaughtered were "fake" pagans?
