research in biotechnology

my daughter is doing her graduation in biotechnology and is interested in going in for research thereafter. I do not know much about this like - subjects-colleges- fields etc. The only advice I could give is "decide on a topic of interest & the research you would like to carry out- find out which institution can offer you the facilities & then decide instead of deciding on the Institution first & trying to get in there" Any advice out there?

your advice was the best anyone could offer but i'd give my piece too.nowadays there are alot of universities offering the course .the only thing u should decide first is the branch that interests u. that takes the lion's share the rest depends upon it.
