graffiti artist out there, can you help me!!

My 13 yr old son has become fascinated with graffiti. He has a tag and spends most his days drawing. We live in the area where Banksy does alot of graffiti and my son admires him. I am worried though that he is going to start graffiting out on the streets, which I know is what graffiti is all about, but only being 13 is he too young. I would love to hear from other graffiti artists who can give me some tips.

I dont do graffiti but admire people who do, some of it is just amazing. Just an Idea as graffiti is all about designing could he maybe turn this into mabe putting his mark on maybe a T-shirt or even painting it on paper? These could then be sold to make money for buying his cans of paint when he gets older? Theres loads of sites online http://www.ukgraffiti.com/ukgv2/uk/index.htm http://www.graffiti.org/uk/uk_36.html Graffiti Playdo, Graffiti Online. I write graffiti im am from the bronx new york where it was started.Graffiti is only punishable if used to deface property.Your son has something he is interested in what you can do is help him by talking to him about the punishments that is if you mind him going out in the streets to "get up"but if you dont you can tell your son to practice on paper an by the time he is 14 that is the time to go out.

My son got a book for xmas about the graffiti in the Bronx. He is in awe of the time it all started and what it stands for. He is becoming really good now and at the moment goes onto a website vandalsquad.com which he really enjoys. I did have a word with him and I think he is beginning to realise that if he is caught he will get in trouble. I suppose I will have to wait and see what happens when he's older. Thanks for your advise.
