Why did the gas prices go up? Who decides what price they should be?

Did gas prices go up because Bush is president and from a big oil producing family? Do you think he's laughing all the way to the bank? I'm sick of these prices! We pay around $2.38 per gallon. It really hurts our budget. What can we do as a consumer? What if everyone stopped driving for 1 day, would that make any impact??

i don't know. But somehow it can seem to go up 20 cents over night but it takes a month to go down 20 cents. It is really irritating because oil companies are boasting the highest profits they have had in decades. they don't care about us. and i am sorry but to all you idiots who say blame bush... you can not blame him for everything. He has no control over this.....

I am not really blaming Bush, I did vote for him - but as American citizens I feel like we should have some explanation as to how this is happening. The oil producing companies are ran by people that are making decision about a big thing that's affecting our lives. I just think we deserve some explanation. You can't tell me that the Bush family isn't making more money from it. The US has some oil reserves and/or refinerys that we could tap into to help lessen the cost on the American people. And what about spending more money on research to develop biofuel or better electric cars? Somethings got to change. Thanks for you post.
