Is anyone else's family as crazy as mine?

Today we had an early Christmas with some extended family and on the hour and half drive home I had to laugh. Try to follow me now ... My uncle has been married to his wife for about 15 years now and she brings her ex-husband with her to all of our family functions! I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone doing that before. My brother-in-law made everyone talk to a stuffed dog instead of talking directly to him or he wouldn't answer them ... and for the second year in a row my dad got a jewelry box in the men's Christmas present exchange. He doesn't even wear his wedding ring and why in the world would anyone think that a man might want a jewelry box in the first place???? Does anyone else have unusual families?

I thought my family was the only one so hysterical and crazy. My uncles ex is at every gathering. No one seems to know though who has actually invited her. I think she just shows up. Then she just sits around because no one talks to her and she'll stay for hours on end. She isn't a very pleasant person to be around. No one has ever asked who invited you because I guess none of us are that rude but my uncle is very uncomfortable around her and his new wife despises her and she still comes anyway.

Trust me, if she is there, someone invited her. Think about it. How would she know? Some member of your family dislikes your uncle's new wife or feels terribly sorry for his ex-wife. My guess is they dislike the new wife. They may not say it, but keep your eyes open.

Hun, I could write a book about all the craziness in my family!! Well I could if I could figure out just where to begin. I think every family has its share of "unusual" members

It is great you can have a good time atholidays without the drinking. Your family is really something else. Mine is kind of wacky but a wife bringing her ex-husband to her husband's families holiday celebration, Wow that takes nads.

You should write a book about it, but then I think we all think that after a family gathering. I think that is why I don't see either side of my family much anymore. We get to see the in laws tmrw. I bought bottle of rum & vodka. I think I am ready for them now... lol Merry Christmas

my have is pretty normal but my partner's family are a bunch of nut cases,we are just having a lunch with his mum, sister and brother, because his mum and his uncle don't get along and she refuses to go to her parents place for a family christmas. this family is so disfunctional its not funny they wont put their differences aside for any occassion and it always ends up argument

Oh, I'm happy! It gives me all sorts of things to talk about for the next couple of weeks. Like the time my dad got a pair of biking shorts for Christmas and at the age of 60 went into the bathroom while no one was paying attention and came out with nothing on except his biking shorts and a roll of toilet paper shoved down the front for "enhancement."

That's a good one, does your dad ride a bike? My son's girl friend did a good one on me. They make gag gifts every year and last year for Christmas she made me slippers out of maxi pads. The whole house was in tears.

I think that we all have crazy families when you start to think about it :) I know that mine certainly is no exception but that's what makes families so much fun sometimes-those funny little quirks

I'm glad you have a family of yours so cool! It makes you laugh. It's kind of a family that would be so cool and so fine with real laughter without so much nonsense.

Oh my goodness, that is funny!!! It sounds like something my family would do. I don't want all of you to think it's affected me, by telling you about it...so I'll just say this...My family is the reason that there is that song.."I'm my own grandpa"...lmao

Mine is just very dysfunctional and I always dread spending holidays gathered up with them. I have been through way too much self-improvement to relate anymore and I usually just want to stay away from them. I wish they were more like your bunch. The weirdest thing anyone did in my family was when my uncle woke up in the night to go pee and he went in the kitchen and peed in the floor furnace register. YUK!

My years on this life have led my to conclude that every individual is off to one degree to another, and that everyone's family contains some absolute lunatics. But the brother in law with the stuffed dog... that does take the cake.

I do not have unusual families but you are right that is weird that your uncles wife would bring her exhusband to the family functions and I do not know of any men that have a jewelry box. I know that I do not have jewelry box. LOL

i think in a way we all do, its around the holidays and gatherings that we realize how crazy our own families are because it really comes out.
