What does this mean?XOXOX for hugs and kisses?

I've received a text message with XOXOX in the end! My friend says it means hugs and kisses,it's so sweet.but is it really what it means?

Yea, it actually does... but there is always a debate which is which
X - for hugs, crossed arms
O - for kisses for the pouting shape of lips
but some say
x - for kisses lips touching..
O - for hugs.. arms wrapped around.
