Did you prefer the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or the new one with Johnny Depp? I prefer the old one.

Of course the new one for it is the version from my generation. However, I would give applause to the old one for producing such movie even if advanced and improved props and sets still weren't present then.

How funny to come across this question while watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory with my 4 yr old. (the old one) My Favorite! and my daughters! the remake scared her. While watching the dvd she begged oh please put in the other one mommy. We own it. Highly recommend the Sing Along portion in the special features !

I never saw the second one but mostly because from the commercials I saw it just didn't look that good. Also from others I heard on line they told me not to bother wasting my time with it. I loved the original and maybe eventually I'll try and watch the remake. If I do I hope it's better then the commericials led it to be.

i prefer the new version one of the largest reasons is me to be the actor's johnny depp fan but in my opinion the film has more mystery than the first, the willy wonka is shadier (as it would be a man 15 years alone in manufactures with a lot of oompa luumpas) but everything depends on taste,if the person likes film more well in the style "cheerful" she has to choose the first, but if you goes one more style "same being more infantile taste of a little of sense " she has to choose the second.
