Is Christmas Pagan, Christian or Secular?

Symbols have no more or less meaning than that which a culture places on them. December 25th, the day and the holiday is not different. The trees we decorate are as Christian or as Pagan as we want them to be. I doubt there is a Christian anywhere who really thinks Jesus was born on this date. The thing is, none of that matters. What matters is that thsoe who claim to be Christian celebrate it in a Christian manner... thesame with the Pagans, as well as those who see it as nothing more than a day of sharing, for the sake of sharing. For me, I celebrate both sides of the holiday. To me, if you believe in Christ, you can also "believe" in Santa Claus and other Christmas traditions. I'm not sure what screaming guitars and great string arrangements have to do with Christ's birth, or Winter Soltice... but I do know that Trans Siberian Orchestra has become a tradition in my family.

Yes, in most countries where Christmas is celebrated, it is both a Religious and Secular day. I say, let's all celebrate the day the way we see fit.

I know that many symbols including christmas tree are in fact from pagan tradition. I do not care. I do celebracte Christmas and Christmas Eve. In the very next hour my family will start celebration and I am very happy about.

Yes, I notice the CHRIST in the name, and being Christian, I also celebrate it as Christ's birthday. However, I don't expect anyone who isn't Christian to do so. Furthermore, if you insist that everything about Christmas has to be centered on the Birth of Christ: Why do you celebrate it on the 25th of December, when you know He wasn't born on that date? Do you respect "Nativity Scenes" even though nothing about them are authentic to the scene where Jesus was born? Do you have a Christmas Tree, Wreath or Yule Log? You see, while us Christians do celebrate Christmas our own way, we do so knowing that not all of our traditions are authentic. So, let's be Christian about it and allow others to celebrate the day the way they see fit.
