A friend of mine whom I hadn't met for a while had lost a couple of kilos and she told me her trick to losing the weight is by avoiding rice 100%. Is it true that will work? Rice is carb and so are noodles, bread etc. How can I eat other form of carbs but not rice?

There was the Atkins diet in the US that told people to stay away from carbs and eat a lot of protein. It worked since protein is not turned into fat and carbs are. However it did cause a lot of health risks to those people on the diet and they were not as able to heal after injuries because their bodies did not have the energy to repair themselves. If you really want to lose weight you need to cut down on calories over all and exercise, and not just cut down in one specific area. Your friends diet probably consisted of carbs coming mainly from rice which is why she could lose so much weight. Also complex carbs such as those in grains such as rice are better for you than simple carbs that are in sugar because you can burn them over time instead of burning them quickly.

isn't burning those damn carbs quickly better than burning it overtime?
