Medical billing is nothing but "Managing Financial Data of a physician for his/ her healthcare services rendered to the patient". In other words "Medical billing refers to the process by which a health insurance claim is prepared and submitted to a third payer for reimbursement."

I don't know much about billing and coding. I am a medical transcriptionist. I have seen people doing medical billing and coding. I think it is taking codes and making billing for the insurance purposes by different medical students.

Medical coders maintain patients' medical records using a universally recognized coding system (ICD-9 index) to ensure compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements. Medical billing is a subspecialty of medical coding. Although there are programs that offer medical billing training by itself, you should consider a program that combines both billing and coding in one training program, since medical coding is the first step in the medical billing process. To find out more about it you can go to: http://www.allalliedhealthschools.com/faqs/medical-coding-career.php I hope that helps. Happy mylotting!
