I'm all for reinstating the draft as long as it includes the clauses that all children of senators, congressmen and judges are to be drafted manditorilly as well.
I'm sure lawmakers would approach war and conflict much differently if it were their sons and daughters going off to war.

No, reinstate draft mean sending more troops to war, so no way.

I think it would mean training more troops, and having more troops available if we needed them, but not necessarily sending them into combat situations. All of our military is not in combat right now. Many are here to protect our own borders, and the Army Corp of Engineers is stationed all over the world building roads and such...not in combat. That is what my daughter did for 8 years. After the National Guard is called in to help clean up after hurricanes and such, I think sometimes the Army Corp of Engineers can also be utilized in that type of work if asked.

I am opposed to the draft. The draft wwould lower the quality of the soldiers and make for a poorer military. As things stand right now there are more than enough highly motivated and well educated young prople who are willing to place their life on the ling so that we can all enjoy our comfortable life. the have a beleife in this country and want to keep it strong and safe. Almost evry soldierIhave talked to feels we are doing the right thing and are willing to go back to Iraq. Interestingly the military has been meeting their goals for enlistments and reenlistments. The biggest complaint I hear is that the media is lying to the public about what is going on in the war in Iraq. The people who complain the loudest about the war would be and demanding rights for the enemy would be the first ones killed by the radical Islamist. The better wake up and smell the roses.

No. It doesn't come down to whether it'd be beneficial for this country or our army. It comes down to whether or not it's RIGHT. And it's not since, it goes against freedom of religion and choice. Some religions prohibit people from fighting, some are pacifists, and others -- like myself, are having serious doubts about the morality of this war.
I'm fighting to preserve my rights here at HOME, and by Goddess it's a handful. It seems like every day the war at home, to keep our rights..slip further and further down the dark rabbit hole. Out of reach. We're slowly losing the battle to keep our liberties legal..I am fighting to protect them.
But people keep using this WAR as a justification for what's happening HERE. Which is stupid, and horrible..because people are so blinded by that, that they won't listen to reason.
The Draft is WRONG. To force people to become criminals simply because they don't agree with the war and don't wish to fight in it..is just plain wrong. To force people to do anything which they disagree with, simply because it's the law is wrong.
