Thanks to miss rice's efforts US has changed its policies towards India. In 1971 when Mrs. Gandhi went to seek help from US no one had helped her but now its a different picture. I think mainly because now with increasing power of China, US needs an ally in this part of the world desperately too. Pakistan is already helping him but it can not trust pakistan fully due to radical groups present there hence India naturally becomes a better and available option. US has realised it and hence its attitude has changed towards India.
