Hahaha gone far enough!! Well parts of Victoria Aussieland had a White Christmas....some never seeing snow in summer before! We had hail which left a very fine trace of white on the ground, woudn't call it grass as the lack of rain and class4 water restrictions have seen an end to most lawns and grasses!, and then we get hail?? 37 degreesC day temp, 29 degreesC minimum overnight temp one day and 12 degrees day temp (with hail) a couple of days later?? Wierd, me thinks someone is playing with the weather clock!! haha

Well, one of the things I had heard about Australia is that it is noted for weather extremes. We think we have it bad, but we have not had anything like you are talking about.

Here in china grove texas, all we have is crazy weathermen that every year say the same thing; "get your coats out and your chains on, its gonna be a white christmas!" we haven't seen snow since 1986 when we got 13 inches. I however spent mine this year in denver and got enough to last for a while!

justiman, good to hear from you. Count your lucky stars about the lack of snow. Too bad about being in Denver. That was a heck of a mess.

I note your profile mentions Baltimore MD. It's that warm there recently? I admit that is warmer than I would expect. Really though, who wants a white Christmas, anyway. Count yourself lucky. BTW, besides losing only a very small portion of coast line, the other major result of some global warming at the current rate of climate change would be to increase the growing season in parts of the world which currently can not grow crops. Meaning an increase in the food supply. Also, know what one of the major green house gasses is? Water! That's why they call it a green house gas. No one is scared of water. Don't let former Vice President Al Gore and his ilk scare you. The sky is not falling and Al Gore is more like chicken little than a stateman.

I am in Oklahoma. So I am right there with you on no white Christmas. But I am born and raised in Florida, so I am used to no white Christmas. At least it is sold here for Christmas. Florida is probably in the 70's.

70's sounds real good about now. It is 31 here. Not cold in some places, but colder than I like.

You have a high chance of snow in Skåne at Christmas but it's no guarantee. If you go just a little further north it's pretty much guaranteed (I've never seen a Christmas without snow in Västmanland or Södermanland, the two provinces just west and southwest of Stockholm, but sometimes it's as late as the day before that the snow hits.) Also, beware that Christmas is mostly celebrated on the 24th in both Sweden and Germany. That's when the big meal and the present giving happens, at least, Christmas Day (the 25th) is still christmas day, but it's mostly used to recover from the eating, and hit the pubs :) I dug up the weather report from last year: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/vader/stor... The way that's written, they sound a little surprised that even Skåne will probably get snow, "or at least a heavy frost" :) And another from 2001, saying probably not: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/st... If you want absolutely guaranteed snow, you might want to consider a little further north.

I will never ever want guaranteed snow. I was raised as a child in Michigan, which has lots of snow. I learned to hate it. I wish that when I had moved south, I had borrowed a truck with a snow plow on the front. Then I could have driven south until someone asked me what that thing on the front of my truck was. Then I'd know I'd finally gone far enough south!

We had a brown Christmas, mud everywhere. The last time we didn't have a white Christmas was in 1996. We had our first white October ever recorded. We got snow the day after Christmas, I think that's because my brother sent a big toy snow globe from North Carolina.

I am glad your wife enjoyed her visit to the UK, but thats it! It is ok to visit, but living in the small town where we are there is not very much in the way of work. There is plenty of work in the summer as it is a seaside town but come winter it is a struggle to get work. All the nice people seam to come from Arkansas.

Actually, it is great living in Arkansas. My wife and I were independent trucker traveling the entire USA when we moved here. We literally had the option to live anywhere in the continental United States we wanted. After seeing the whole USA, we chose Arkansas. We have lived here at this address since 1981 and in Arkansas since 1977. UK doesn't sound so bad. My wife has been there and says it is nice.

Well I can't say that I envy people who live in the snow! As I mentioned earlier, our climate has gone buresk (taken a wobbly) and fluctuates between 39* to 18* the next and even the same day from am to pm!! lol... and they reckon global warming has nothing to do with it.. (rolls eyes) yeah right! The reason I haven't been around much red is my internet carrier keeps going down.. something to do with "extensions". Leaving me in the cold (haha) so to speak!

Michigan has been oddly warm this season. They say we might have some for New Years though. Personally, I could do without it forever!

Michigan always has been a strange place by my way of thinking. I suspect the politicians there lay awake at night worried about the populace. They worry about many things, being the concerned public servants that they are. What keeps them awake with worry? That someone somewhere in the state might be having fun and they just have to pass a law making that person's activity illegal. After I got my first chance to experience living elsewhere, which had to happen since I had joined the US ARMY, I knew I'd never live in Michigan again. So, I'm not surprised that even the weather is screwed up there.

I live in Wisconsin. If we do not get any within the neck couple of Days, then the weather patterns are effecting the ability for the snow spirits to move in. They been having a hard time getting where they need to.... Usually New Years Eve, is an Easy Day to call them, since they are alert from all the booms and bangs and festivities... We'll see.... - DNatureofDTrain

We had a blizzard here in Denver, maybe you heard. If you send $50.00 and a refirgerated crate we can ship some White Christmas your way. Of course you cannot get a discount for late ordering! LOL

I saw your white Christmas on the news. NO THANKS! The amount of snow that stops things here is nothing compared to what places like Denver deal with on a regular basis. We do not even have real snow removal equipment, except that which is solar powered. The county is too poor and has too little snow to invest in a substantial amount of snow removal equipment. So, good luck to you. I'll stick with the occaisional few inches of snow we get and be happy with that.

I just saw this discussion and I am SO jealous. You people in Arkansas and the people in Souther England have clearly stolen our snow and I want it back. Just kidding, but we've had no accumulation so far this winter in pennsylvania and that is a little strange.

Fortunately for us, that snow in that photo melted in a day or two and that's all we have had. I don't miss it, either.

Well I suppose a dose of good old Aussie weather would be out of the question as well then red! hahaha We actually got a little rain which put about 600 litres into the tank! Mind you its not snow but I think that a full on white Christmas doesn't feel so far off!! Even though we have never had one here!(Full on, that is)

600 liters into the tank? Do you live on one of those remote ranches in the outback?

Hey, good idea. I experimented with doing something similar in order to water a small garden. I live far enough away from things that I have my own well. Watering a garden can tax that more than you like, especially during the summer drought we seem to get here every summer. Note I said, experimenting. Since there is not a demand for that sort of thing here, I was trying to cobble something together from parts meant for something else. I never did come up with a satisfactory system and took it all apart. As you system shows, though, it is a good idea.

No red, we put the tank in to be conservative with water! The 1000 gals feeds back into the house and the 2000 gals we use on the garden....but it has been 2 years since the 2000 gal tank had any water in it. It has been so dry over here, I mean at the best of times we naven't really got any substancial rain fall...all the catchments are in mid 20% holding capacity..... they are talking about recycling sewerage water after it has been treated!!! That's why You could send as much of that white stuff our way as your hearts desired!! Mind you it might not last that long! (rolls eyes) haha

Hi again, no, we're not having a White Christmas, but we are coming close. A couple of days ago it was 35C +, now it is 15C and cold, it snowed south of here in Tasmania, they got a white Christmas, but get this, it is Australia and this is supposed to be hot, not both.

Good to hear from you. Judging from responses to this thread there is some unusual weather in many places this year. However, that is the way weather is, strange and changing! Hearing from you, of course, reminds me of radio. I should get back on HF one of these days. Say, did you hear that the USA deleted the morse code requirement for its radio liscense? Some silent keys I use to know just rolled over in their graves!

We had a totally green Christmas, which is fine by me, I might add! You had more snow in Arkansas than we did in Buffalo, NY- you may be aware that we have a "reputation" when it comes to snow and blizzards... In fact, it was 49 degrees F. here yesterday!!! I feel so bad for the people who were affected by that blizzard in Denver. So many people spent the holiday in little plastic chairs in the airport rather than with the ones they love. What a mess!

Many years ago when my wife and I were still independent truckers I remember being in one of the worst snow storms of my life near Buffalo, NY. No thanks! As to Denver, I already declined a shipment of snow from that place from a previous poster. No, thanks to that either! As to the weather here, not to worry the forecast is for better weather soon.

We didn't have a white Christmas this year but we are getting slammed with single digit weather now. In fact, it is so cold that it can't snow. It was -3 on Monday when I got up to check the news, now it's about 7 above.

I am in Denver, and we still have plenty of snow on the ground. I love Denver, but have never seen such a stretch of consistent snow (usually we are pretty dry, and often fairly warm.) I would love to go back to Arkansas. I lived there until I was six years old, and don't remember a single flake of snow. I lived in Batesville. Beautiful place. Nice small town. Liked the Taco John's. Is that close to where you are at? (I think it is a little east of you).

Batesville! Good golly, YES! That is 45 miles south of me and my wife commutes there every day for her job. That you think Batesville is a small town shows the difference in our perspective. To us, Batesville is a large town. The largest for miles and miles! We'll keep an eye on Batesville for you.

Cool! It has probably grown a bit since I was there twenty years ago, but I do remember that it was a nice place spend a peice of my childhood. My family lived there in Batesville because my parents were attending Arkansas College (it is called something else now, but I'm not sure what.) They went there because of its Scottish pipe band; my dad plays the bagpipes and my mother did Highland dance.
