yes I have parrots at home. it speaks very well. Its says i'm hungry (if it is hungry), what r u eating(if we r eating something in front of it without giving him), kochumoneee...(my hubby's pet name),praise the lord, thank god,mummy....(she calls my mom). she also scolds us if v scold her. her name is Rani so she calls herself Rannikuttyy.....(that we call her in love) and she calls me vavakutty(thats my pet name at home.).she even sings when she is happy. she produces some "tto" soundif she likes the food we give her. parrots are said to be vegetarian but my parrot each chicken fry and omlet very well thats her favorite food.
we got her when she was so small just hatched out from the egg. To train parrot u should frequently talk to it... and u can see it is closly observing us. keep on saying it will try to say. if it is a child then it is easy to teach it. Its tongue wwill be hard ... its natural.. give it some rough leaf to play with. this will help to reduce the thickness of its tongue. then it can speak easily.try this out.

I have a parrot at home. Her name is manikutty. She says poda and podi when she gets angry. She says arada athe who is it? when someone comes home. She also says manikuttikku onnnum thannilla. Nobody gives anything to manikkuty. She also says inivum venam wanted more, chakarae, aru poyi tatta poyi who has gone where gone, choru venam, pazham venam, wanted rice, wanted banana, etc. She also likes to be carried on the shoulders. The best think she likes is to massaged on the head. I think most animals including parrots like to be massaged softly in the head. They like this very much. Try slowly massaging in the head they like it very much. Also, one have to talk a lot to the parrots. They watch the lip movement and what we speak. Put something to chew like vayambu, Chilly, etc. They will talk easier.
