I've tried to post this response 4 or 5 times now, I wonder if MyLot is not letting me answer this??? But anyway, I guess I've got to start a new discussion so I can respond to this girl, this is in response to page 2 of the original discussion, in response to mssmith007 (646), talking about how African Americans still have to deal with racial inequality and injustice everyday, that it's still a current issue plaguing this country (America). Here is my response: I agree with you, African Americans have to deal with the negative images that the white man has promoted every single day. Imagine this. You're a white man, riding in your car to work, to your big corporate job in the city. You hear on the radio that a store had been robbed the night before, the owner was shot, and later that night, the robber was caught buying drugs. Honestly, do you think a white man is going to think "wow, I bet that was a white man who did it"... Unfortunately, NO. And it's outrageous and cruel but it's the truth. America has created a negative image of African Americans by overly abundantly showing the bad and never the good, and b/c of it, when any crime or bad things happen some people automatically assume it was an African-American and not a white who did it. America needs to offer African-Americans some sort of repayment for the atrocities that it's committed to it's people, and I think that should come in the form of educational grants for African-Americans. B/C I bet you that someone who's had to starve and fight oppression every day will be a much better worker and will strive to succeed more than someone who's had everything handed to him his whole life, and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so to speak, the person who has struggled, however, he will actually appreciate the blessings that he's been given and work hard to use them for good.
