New Years Party

United States
December 25, 2006 12:41pm CST
For several years I have contemplated hosting a New Years Eve Party. The problem is that I would not want to offer alcohol until the 12:00 hour. I do not want anyone to drink and drive home. Many people think of a New Years Eve party as one were the alcohol is plentiful. Maybe if we had a couple of designated drivers it would be okay. But, still I do not want to have a bunch of drunks to worry about.

i think u must arrange a mini- bus for your guests to get home after the party.. i feel really sad that still many people dont understand the dangers of driving after getting drunk... i hope your party goes really smooth and u have loads of fun. ENJOY

If I could afford a minibus that would be a great idea. Sadly, we will ring in the New Year alone again. Not a problem for me.

It is possible to have a really nice alchohol free party. I don't know who you would invite, but you might be surprised by the people who would enjoy attending a party where they didn't have to watch their back because of drunks. Also going home after a party, you really want to be straight so you can be extra aware of the traffic.

Offering a toast at midnight would be okay. No drinking up until the midnight hour.

I understand what you mean. In addition to not wanting to have to worry about them, I hate having a bunch of drunks in my house. They get destructive and accident prone there as well.

My husband would freak if someone were to break something in our house or even worse, get sick.

that is a great concern there. I for one do not go out on new years unless i will be spending the night to where i am going. I refuse to drive after dark on new years eve because of so many drunk people out there.

We ventured to my brother's house a few years ago and ended up coming home at 9:00. They aren't much for staying up late. We watched the ball drop at home and went to bed. Party animals we are not!

I see your point. Unfortunatly alot of other people dont. It certainly wouldnt bother me I dont drink. i dont think I would want the responsibilty of the drunks when they leave.

I actually am not fond of being around people who have had too much to drink.
