Yahoo messenger Status Message question..

I keep trying to put my own status message, something I have done a million times and never had a problem with, now I try to put something and it wont show up! when I click on the ones that are already there like the "Busy" or one of the others it works but I try to put my own and it will not show.. even the words "Merry Christmas" will not show up.. Is anyone else having this problem on their yahoo messenger??
