Did you get any real Christmas cards in the mail this year?

I got six. I sent out about 20-25. I know that, for a majority of people, sending cards is too much time, trouble and expense these days... but I really like sitting down and sending cards to my friends and family. I also take the opportunity to enclose my children's school photos for the current year so that everyone who asks for them, gets them. Do you send/receive cards? Do you think it's a waste of time? Do you enjoy getting "real" postal mail?

I still send out cards and the majority of my friends and family sent ones to me. Some of the printed them out on the computer but not too many. I still got a lot of picture cards which I love to get

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that still enjoys this tradition :) I don't get many computer-generated cards either -- just one family that I know used to send them and now they send ecards. I do love getting pictures in the cards too... we even got one of someone's dog this year! LOL I never thought of that one!

We got 4 this year and because my husband is a graphic artist, we make our own e-cards and send emails. I know that is so cheesy, but when people get a custom graphic made just for them they seemed to like it so we went with it. I used to send out 20-30 cards every year, and now I like sending out personal emails instead. This way, I know that the person will actually see it! I do enjoy getting real postal mail, but I also probably read my email more than I check my mail box.

I don't think that sounds cheesy at all KJ! I mean, if he is a graphic artist, then they are so personal. I think that's pretty awesome. Oh and I definitely spend more time at the computer than the mailbox... LOL that's a given :D

I still like getting snail mail it has a personal touch to it. I sent about 20 to 30 cards to Cali this year because well thats where all my family and friends are. I have 7 cards I got in the mail this year. I still like getting snail mail as well as just sitting down writing it.

shooie, I love getting snail mail too... there's something really nice about finding something in the mailbox besides bills! :) Do you still handwrite letters to your family and friends too or do you rely more on email?

Yes, I sent out about 16 Christmas Cards and received a little more than that in return. I agree that sending and receiving Christmas Cards is a lot of fun and I look forward to it each and every year.

I have to admit that I really do like getting mail, even still. I was never so keen on those "form letter" Christmas letters that some families do (you know the ones? Exact same text to everyone, even if you don't know all the members of the family?) but, if someone takes the time to write one, I'm more than happy to sit down and take the time to read it :) I guess I have a hard time letting go of some of the more traditional aspects of the holidays... probably because they do make things brighter :) All the best to you and yours!

I think I got about 10 or so. I also got a few ecards. I prefer the ones that I recieve in my mail box though. It just seems more personal.

I agree southernpixie... I will send an ecard in reply to one that someone sends me... I don't see anything wrong at all in doing that. Usually I get ecards from work contacts or people that I just don't see much anymore. But I like the personal aspect of "real" cards. Older relatives especially seem to appreciate them since I guess they are even more a part of that generation.

I got six too, and I sent out about 20. Everyone sends me the darn things over the internet, woo hoo, it's just not the same, lol. I would much rather get the ones through "real" mail/snail mail/ whatever. I think I might skip it next year. It takes a lot of time to write out all those cards, and not even get a response back from anyone for the effort don't make it worth it to me....That kinda stinks, maybe I'll change my mind :-)
