I really want to see this movie. I would love to see it in the theatre but my husband refuses to pay for movies and will wait until they come on the movie channels. My son saw it the other night and said it was excellent except Leo sucks at doing a fake accent. Anyone else see the movie? Any comments without giving too much away? Think it will win any awards?

My son finally went to see it and he said he really like it. He was never a Leo fan but said he deserves credit for his acting in this movie. He wasn't sure what to expect when he went but he enjoyed it a lot.

With a hard to believe cast and fascinating story plot, this film ought to have been a work of art. But in reality it turned out to be a decent film with a middle-of-the-road storyline. The acting, as predicted was remarkable with Leonardo DiCaprio which starred beforehand in The Departed which was a dazzling remake. What I in fact admired about this movie is that they demonstrated the brutality of what the diamond mines in Africa are like and how they abuse people.
However I was expecting an additional violent and gruesome motion picture which Blood Diamond does deliver but truly doesn’t shine all that much with a few dreary dialogues that may make you left bored an uninterested. I to some extent first thought that this movie sort of resembled Catch a Fire. When I initially saw the trailer of Blood Diamond it appeared reminiscent of the similar plot with a man losing his entire family and afterward trying to get them back.
Blood Diamond is regarding Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) which embarks on a quest to retrieve a valuable diamond that Solomon hid before meeting Danny in prison where they would be associates. Danny Archer is a South African mercenary which does not want to exist in Africa to any further extent and has the once in a life time opportunity to alter his whole life around by getting his hands on the rare diamond. Solomon Vandy is a Mende fisherman which needs to help out his family because they were taken by the rebels.
Both Solomon and Danny team up and along the way with Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) which is an American journalist that is romantically linked to Danny. They are obligated on traveling to the enemy’s territory and recover the stone prior to they get into anymore peril. Even though the rebels are on the pursuit to uncover the expensive diamond and give the impression to stop at nothing at finding the diamond which will definitely end with bloodshed.
Not a great deal to describe this film but that it definitely had potential with the splendid action scenes. I in actual fact enjoyed the genres that Blood Diamond covered because it really didn’t sense like one of those presently vengeance type of motion pictures. There is a great deal of emotion and violence seen in Blood Diamond that relates to the cruelty of how Africa is treated by foreigners trying to retrieve precious jewelries for profit.
Overall I reflected this film as decent but did not live up to the hype of which critics have been praising this film. It had a scheme that could have developed into a masterpiece but failed to deliver it by generating a quantity of unnecessary scenes and conversations that were tedious. The visual effects and the direction were carried out pretty well but sometimes a slight off. I do recommend this film if you are willing to go watch a great performance in acting and gory violent visual effects.

Leo was on one of the talk shows. Could have been Oprah but I'm not sure. They were saying the movie is really good. His co-star which is a black male actor might be up for oscars apparently. I'm not a Leo fan myself and the movie doesn't look like it would appeal to me but enjoy it if you go.
