Do super clean houses make you uncomfortable when you visit with someone?

Some time ago, we went to some friends house for a get together. I was really impressed at how clean their house was at first, but the longer I was there the more uncomfortable I became - it was just too clean. Does anyone else feel uncomfortable in a house that's too clean? These peoples house was like a museum inside also, with lots of interesting things to look at. When we got home to our "lived in house" we were releaved! Sounds silly, doesn't it?

I hear ya thumper.. Its pretty obvious what they are tryin to tell you and most times they're watchin you like a hawk to see what you touch or where ya sit.. Yep.. been there and its the most yukkiest feeling ever! I like my house clean but I also like it to be homely for my visitors.

Yes, they watched where we sat, and what the kids looked at, etc. I was afraid to use the pot because there was no used toliet paper in the waste basket. I hated to be the one throwing TP in there. My house is lived in clean and we like it that way. Thanks.

Oh I've been to houses like that. Actually had a friend back when I was in school who's house was like that. It even had all white carpeting through the whole house. I could not picture having white carpeting with kids. Just not something that goes together. Our house may not be spotless but at least it's comfortable.

If I am going there for a meal, I love it. If I am just visiting, it can be a little uncomfortable, as I don't want to touch anything. It doesn't sound silly that you feel that way.

Oh, I too wish my house to be that clean, but reality is I just don't have the time to consistently deep clean like that. Maybe it's not that big of a priority for me.

I have been in houses that are spotless. Before I had kids my house was spotless. I keep it clean but not nearly as clean as I should. People come to my house and always say how its always clean but I dont see it that way. I love going to peoples homes that are super clean I feel very comfortable places like that and wish I could keep my house the same way I just dont have the ambition to do it.

Why should i feel uncomfortable at all, i rather feel happy, i keep my house so clean, all members of my house have very clean habits, no body will see dust, dirts scattered here and there.. Thanks for this discussion Happy posting, cheers. Namastey. Kalyani
