I have written something few months ago and it contains:
Diabetes is not only debilitating to pregnant mothers but to her unborn as well. A UK based research found out that diabetic mothers are more likely to have newly born babies with cardio vascular malformation. Abnormal sugar levels in pregnant mothers pose high risk of transposition of the great arteries in babies, which means that oxygen rich blood returns to the lungs thereby causing oxygen poor blood to be pumped around the body. This situation could trigger a number of complication caused by poor presence of oxygen in the body that could lead to death.
The likelihood that mothers with diabetes to have babies with structural heart defects is so high that professional intervention is very much necessary. Diabetic women at the first sign of pregnancy should consider risk assessment in order to properly set appropriate medical action. As much as possible sugar levels should be monitored regularly, however, this is just one of those things to be considered to reduce the risk. Another recommendation to be considered is for pregnant women to be offered with a specialist foetal echocardiogram. There are valid claims that antenatal diagnosis of transposition helps alleviate unlikely consequence of diabetes among mothers. The complications brought about by diabetes were also confirmed by a study on risk assessment during pregnancy conducted in New Zealand. According to the study, diabetes is one of the maternal and fetal risk associates at first pre natal visit or preconception. The study suggested that risk assessment be made to lessen adverse effects on both mother and child in situation where disease threatens their safety.
When pregnancy looms most especially on mothers wherein complications are expected due to diseases that they might have it is a must that necessary preparation and an appropriate program of action be on stand by. Taking into consideration the safety of the mother and the unborn. There are available information, individuals and institution that can offer the necessary assistance on this matter. However, safety could also be taken from responsibility on the part of the persons concerned. Couples must be aware of each other’s medical status to avoid unfavorable outcomes by reason of the fact that they are suffering a certain kind of disease like diabetes most especially on the part of the mother
What can you say about this?

Many medical professional says that when women are pregnant they have the tendency to have high level of sugar thus having the tendency to be diabetic. Maybe when a pregnant woman has already a history in the family of diabetes should be cautious already with their sugar level to avoid also heart ailment and to promote the baby's health.
