Who gets first 1000 wickets in Test match cricket?

Hi all,
Today shane warne gets his 700th test wicket in his carriear. but shane warne announces his retirement from international cricket. so who can get first 1000 test wickets.I belive muthiya muralitharan will done this.

In the current breed of cricketer, only Muttiah Murlitharan can get 1000 wickets . But I doubt that as well . And besides him, it is just a dream and I don't think that anyone would even come near it !!

I think Murali dharan deserve for it. He is one of the fastest wicket taker in the cricket ground. My wishes are with him.

i think it is muthiah who will be reaching the milestone of 1000 wickets provided he has to play test cricket for another four to five years of time..else the milestone will be achieved only by a person who has to enter the field in the future.

if warne didnt get banned for 1 year he wuold be near the 1000 mark, dont think murlai can do it age is an issue, i think Monty Panasar could do it, he is of a young age and already has 45 wickets

I dont think any bowler can get 1000 wickets in Any form of cricket, unless he gets to play against weak teams regularly, not even mutiah merlitharan can get to that magical figure. If he palys say 5 tests against bangladesh or zimbabwe then he can reach that figure.

I totally agree with you buddy.there are only 2 more bowlers who have above 500 wickets to there name except Glenn mcGrath and Shane warne.they are anil kumble and Muttiah murlidharan....Anil kumble cant take 1000 wickets at any cost.but Muttiah Murlidharan is very near to shane warne and will be the achiever of 1000 test wickets very soon.he is the only bowler who can win you matches for srilanka...who can dominate the opposition and has a average of 5 or 6 a match.so he is the only contender to take 1000 wickets.

ya what you say in your comment is exactly correct. yes glean mcgrath & shane warne are now going to take rest.anil kumble may be take around 650 wickets if indian board allow him to bowl.sure i hope muralitharan will get 1000 wickets.

i dont think anyone would make the 1000 mark during next 20 years.muthiya muralitharan have it him to get passed shane warne.its tough and maybe he will end up inside 800-850.not more.you cannot give ur best wen you were in the peak period.its difficulf for a fast bowler to get to this mark unless he begins at an age of 18-19 .to get wickets and bowl well physical and more mental ability is to there.

may be your opinion is correct if muthiya lose a chance.
He avergely get 5 wickets per test
He need nearly 350 wickets & 70 test match. per year sri lanka playing minimum 10 test so if he play continuly in 6 or 7 years he will get it.

its to early to predict anything lyk that...let someone first cross the 800 barrier and we will see from there...i personally believe no one in our lifetime is going to do it....even muralitharan has to play for close to another decade to get close to this mark and with age its going to be all the more difficult...like everyone else he is bound to run into injuries and bad form in this period...

Share had a fair chance to get the 1000 wickets in Tests but he has announced the retirement. I think now Murali has a good chance and seems to be alone in this race. I have confidence that he would get it by 2 years time if he continous to play.

If Muralidharan remains fit enough to play for another 2 years or so, then definitely muralidharan may reach 1000 figure and as shane warne said after his announcement of retirement, in coming day's many peopel might cross 700 wickets as these day's more and more test cricket is played..what do you say?
