I have recovered plenty of data from corrupted hard drives as long as the harddrive is still being detected by the computer Bios. BUt i could never ever be able to recover lost data from failed harddrives such as failed spin motor, clicking harddrives platter and completely dead harddrives. Anyone out there able to recover data from dead harddrives often?

One trick I've heard and read about is to put the hard drive in the freezer for an hour. I've done this to a failing hard drive and have had it recognized by the BIOS for a short time. I don't know why this works, but it can allow you to recover the data from the drive during that short period of time.

The idea is to get it cold. Depending on how bad the drive is, it may not have to be too cold, perhaps 50 degrees. For seriously damaged drives, they may have to be close to freezing temperatures.
