I started working at age 10 years. As a teenager, I had two of the best jobs you can imagine. My first job was to wax a giant 3 lane aluminum slide. I sat on waxed paper and rode the slide until it was slicked slow, medium, and fast. My next job was to play games at an arcade, stand in line and buy food, eat food in front of the arcade, and keep the juke box rockin'! My best friend's father owned both businesses, and I was what's called a "shill"!

I got my first Saturday job when i was 14 years old, i worked at a garden center and i watered the plants, when i was 16 i than became a cashier, i loved it, it gave me some money that i had earnt all of myself and it also gave me something to do that i enjoyed, i was able to meet people and i made some good friends with the people that i had worked with, i left the garden center when i was 17 and i am now in my 30's and i am still friends with the people that used to work there,. I have worked since I was 15 years old. I worked because my parents felt that working part time would teach me responsibility. And, it did. In high school, I worked about 20 hours a week, was in band, active in several clubs, took ballet and tap, and maintained a 3.85 GPA. I was accepted into the colleges that I applied to and was offered scholarships. I chose a state school near my home to start off. Two years later I transferred to a small private school near my parents home. Even though is was a good deal more expensive than the state school...I was still working part-time and was able to pay for a lot of it myself.

I got my first job 2 weeks after i turned 16 and havent stopped in over 12 years of doing so. I have been in fast food, retail, the U.S. Army and many others. I know that I work because I want to, not because I need money. (not that i have any) I like the satisfaction of a job well done and that is why i have been promoted countless times and always find myself in management. Motivate yourself and accomplish anything.
