Do you think the Pistons are going anywhere this year?

I've heard some good and some bad about the Pistons this year, what do you think? Or, is there another team you think will make it to the end?

The pistons might make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, but, I feel that Washington or Miami might give them a tough time to reach the Championship game.

Well I like to think they will definitely make it to the EC finals! At least then they'll keep some sort of dignity :)

The Pistons are going all the way this year. We've already beat Miami both times we've played them, counting the preseason, and Shaq did play in one of those games. Defensively, our rebound and block totals are almost the same, and our steals were up as of last week. That's what Ben gave us, and now Nazr can score much better (and shoot his free throws lol). Although other scenarios would've worked as well, Ben shooting just 10% better from the line would've put us in the finals last year.

Plus, when they win they allow opponents to only 80+. Is that a team or what?! LoL;-}

Yes we have done very well, which is why it surprises me that others are so quick to dismiss them! They should fear them :) I want the Pistons to win it all of course, because that could only help out Detroit in the long run. I don't think it's the players that matter, it's how well they play! So who cares who left us and who the other teams have, the Pistons can still win if they try hard enough.

They are still the team to look up to, as far as team performance is concerned. They still work as a team with balance contributions plus those guys coming from the bench. Despite the loss of Ben Wallace, I think they know now what they will do.. Which is to adjust and fill out the spot of Big Ben. Don't count them out, they are still the team to beat.

That's what I'm trying to say too! They made it almost all the way to the end many times over the years. I'm hoping they can pull through this time. Detroit needs a winning team! And not a second place team.

I am afraid not. The Pistons had their run, and with the loss of Ben Wallace, I really think that they are going to fall short come post-season play. Sure, they will make the playoffs, but they don't have the "bruiser" they need to beat Shaq when he is healthy. This year will probably go to the Heat again in the East, but I am more worried about how good Denver is going to be now that they have Iverson!

I don't know, maybe Shaq will get hurt or something ;) Ok, that's bad karma to wish injury on another! Of course I will still root for the pistons all the way since Detroit is my town! A crappy town, but it's still mine :)

Well Shaq gets hurt once per season, so I think he has it out of the way for this year....lol

I think they still got a shot at the finals. Heat aren't looking to good with Shaq out if he doesn't get back in a hurry they will have a low seed. The two teams that I am worried about is Chicago and Cleveland. When it comes down to the final four teams it will be pistons,heat,cavs,bulls. I am not sure if Pistons will beat those but they definitely are not out they have the 2nd best record in the East right now.

First, I love that you have a M icon :-D Second, I guess it says something that the pistons almost always make it to the final 2, and I hope this year they do the same! Making it to the final 4 is still great, but I think it's about time one of our teams wins something. The tigers made it far and got all our hopes up! We need our good old reliable Pistons to make it this year.

This is going to sound really ignorant, but who or what are The Pistons? I'm guessing from some of the other responses that they are a sports team not a pop group. But what do they play? (I'm guessing baseball or American football, as neither are covered in Europe, which would account for my not knowing!)

Ah! You don't know who the Pistons are :) They are Detroit's basketball team who won a few times and made it very close to winning many times. Like last night, they went into triple overtime!! They almost won like 5 times and then lost in the end :( They are Detroit's only consistently good team (if you ask me). Our hockey team has had it's moments, and our baseball team had an awesome year, but the Pistons are mostly always making it far in the season. Hope that helps!!

After much thinking, I may change my mind about the chances the Pistons have this year. When they went out and signed Chris Webber, I think it was an extremely smart decision that could spell out an Eastern Conference Championship for them now. At first I didn't think it was a good signing for them, but after seeing some of their games with him, I am starting to sing a different tune.

The Pistons will not probably make the Championship because of the loss of Ben Wallace and there not playing the same like they did with Larry Brown.

I think the Detroit Pistons will definitely go somewhere this year, but it probably won't be the Finals. They're a good team, but I don't think Chris Webber is gonna be much help to them. (I like Ben Wallace better).
