Hello Parents. I am curious if you would ever consider hiring a "manny"? A Manny is a "male nanny" I believe they made up that term in the TV show Friends! :) Anyway, would you?
I honestly don't know if I could or not... But then again I am a stay at home mom and I Love it...

I have been considering hiring a nanny for some time now. My wife and I have 3 small children under the age of 7 and my wife could use the help as she also is a stay at home mom.
To address the "manny" question, for me it's less of a male / female help question and morw of a trust question. If I do hire someone, they would have had to gained some serious trust with me, my wife, and my kids. One person we are considering is one of my daughters female Pre-K teachers who has worked in the past as a nanny

My children are all grown up, but if they were still small, I doubt very much that I would hire a manny. I just feel that a woman would do a much better job and she would be more of a mother to my children. I couldn't picture a man changing nappies and smoothing cream on a nappy rash.

I first heard the term on an episode of Friends. I have also heard the term used in the media.

I would if I knew the 'manny' and his family, otherwise probably not.

it's a definite no for me! i'm having enough problems with my nanny who's an 18 yr old girl , i don't need the complications of a man nanny! my best friend's family hired a houseboy when they were younger, only to wake up one day to find that their 5 yr old sister was molested by him! so, no,no,no! and i'm advising everyone out there to not even think about hiring one.

I would I see no problem with it except stereotypes being broken. I think it would be find for a man to be a cook nanny housekeeper etc...

no, definitely not, because i have one, and it is my husband,,LMAO.
honestly, i would not allow anyone to take care of my son,,
as me and my husband agreed that we should take care of our son, me in the evening and him in the daytime...
we want to see and experience how our son grows.
and it is a fullfilling experience...
good day

I wouldn't have a problem with it so long as they are qualified. I'd put a man or a woman through the same checks and screenings for the job since children are involved. Why should it matter if they are a man or a woman? Before someone brings up the word pedophile I will state this, a woman can be just as much a pedophile as a man so that is no reason alone to not hire a male to care for children. What is important as that they can do the job and that you can be comfortable with them.

Lol I saw the title for this discussion and Friends was the first thing that popped into my head! It was made up on that show. I think I would. But he would probably have to be super sweet and sensitive just like the guy on Friends was. I wouldn't want one of those rough-tough guys taking care of my baby. Women are more likely to get the job, but I can tell you if I found one like Ross and Rachel did I would not let him go!

If his qualifications were right then yes, of course I would. I don't believe that a man can't take care of a child just as well as any woman out there. There are many single parent fathers out there and they do a damn fine job of raising their children. So when it comes to my children and their nanny or manny, it makes no difference of male or female.
