have u ever seen a lightning strike the ground??

I've never seen lightning strike the ground, but I've seen it strike the sea. I live by the sea and I get to see the sight every monsoon season. A swift tentacled arm of luminescence reaches out from the sky, touches the water, lighting up the sea and retracting before you notice. Its beyond description and beautiful...makes me want to write poetry!
