Why is the word 'Corporate' used very often nowadays?

What was household business, small business, minor business operations have now expanded into big corporations to gain advantages of big finance, economies of scale, reduce operational cost, manufacturing cost, and to hire the brilliant top order people who slong to earn profit. Hence it is called "corporate"
