The Capybara is the the world's largest rodent. It is capable of reaching an astonishing weight of 80kg or 176 lbs. and running as fast as a horse. They are usually found near watery jungle marshes and are a favorite prey of both humans and Giant Anacondas ( big snake, big food). Interestingly, this giant rodent has been studied seriously as a possible donor for for human organ transplants because of it's human-sized proportions ( ok to insert jokes about your ex-mate here! lol!) Captive capybaras are suprisingly gentle and many people have made pets of them. Imagine a gigantic guinea pig and you are close to what a pet capybara's temperament is like. You know, it just occured to me that there are some people who are deathly afraid of even a mouse... the sight of one makes them jump or run away... Can you imagine walking into your kitchen one night and seeing one of these things staring at you? My cat "Jackie,The Ripper" an excellent mouser, would probably lose her stripes and faint dead away at the sight of this "Giant Rat From Hell"!:)

Only a cat the size of a Jaguar would probably be able to catch and kill one... but I don't think that this particular cat has the stamina to chase one down... Jaguars hunt by stealth and sudden attack... I have to look this one up...

Ewww...Ewww...Ewww...Ewww...Ewww. I am one of those people that are scared at the sight of a little mouse. I could not imagine walking into my kitchen to see a huge Capybara rat sitting on my kitchen floor. Well, come to think about it....since they are that big, they may even climb on my counters and steal cookies or something! :) That is amazing though! I would have never thought that a rodent could get that big or that heavy. I thought my 40 something pound dog was heavy. Look at the size of that rodent!!! LOL :) Thanks for sharing. I will be sure to never visit where ever that thing is located! :D
