Total number owned: somewhere in the low thousands. Total number I've ever owned would be heaps more. The last book I bought was Learning to Dance, by Michael Mayne. It's a reflective book on the Christian faith, but also on much more. The last book I read - well, more to the point, the most recent book I've been reading is Everything Bad is Good for You: how today's popular culture is actually making us smarter. It's by Steven Johnson, and turns out to be a little gem of a book, showing how we're biased against people who like popular culture because we think it's dumbing them down, when it fact much of it is making them more intelligent. 5 books that meant a lot to me: where do I start? The Bible, obviously. Bleak House, by Dickens. This Sunrise of Wonder, by Michael Mayne. What's so Amazing about Grace, by Philip Yancey. Is God to Blame? by Greg Boyd. But there are heaps of others, too

I'm not much of a bookworm I'm afraid and probably have about two dozen books the most. The last book I bought was from the charity shop, I refuse to buy overly priced books from shops, when I can support a charity and recycle books. I bought the autobiography of Tony Adams, a footballer for Arsenal football club, and that was the last book I read. Books that mean a lot to me, well I'll be honest here and say any of the Harry Potter books! I also love horror and Richard Laymon and Stephen King novels.

Wow, what a great discussion topic! I love to see what other people are reading and the last question you posted is perhaps even more interesting than all of them put together. So here are my answers, for the record: Total number of books owned: Just guessing but 10,000 or more Last book I bought: Thomas Friedman, "The Earth is Flat" Last book I read: Italo Calvino, "A Hermit in Paris" Five books that mean a lot to me: "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan "The Coast of Chicago" by Stuart Dybeck "Simple Abundance" (this is a book about living each day to the fullest by seeing your life as abundant) "Distortions" by Ann Beattie "1,001 Places to see Before You Die" (a wonderful travel book that covers the greatest places on earth, a subjective list, but very inspiring)

Wow! That is a lot of books. I've been wanting to read "The Earth is Flat" since we saw a clip of the author talking about it my business management class. The "1,001 Places to See Before You Die" sounds very interesting.

Wow, total books owned, I don't have any idea, I would guess in the thousands. The last book I bought was The Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling. The last book I read was "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire. Five books that meant alot to me? Well, there would be more than 5, but the ones on my shelf that I read over and over include the five Earth Children books by Jean M. Auel. Clan of the Cave Bear, Mammoth Hunters, Valley of Horses, Plains of Passage, and Shelters of Stone.
