Why does this keep on happening. A four month old child was left in a car in a Perth Australia shopping centre yesterday when the temperature soared to 38 degrees celcius. Thankfully a passerby noticed the distressed child and called police and they smashed a window and rescued the dehydrated baby. The mother has been charged with child endangerment

Holy cow! What is wrong with people today; a month after I moved to phoenix, I heard the first of MANY news reports of child-drownings; the swimming pools that rich people can afford arent' protected or fenced; not to mention none of these 'parents' are watching their kids. Nowadays, I hear more and more of people locking the kids in vehicles in all weather to go into bars, casino, and malls ans you said Krisss. It's disgusting. Lela

You are right, these things do come in waves. In the mid 90s here in Australia there were kids being left in Casino carparks too. The swimming pool disasters have lessened dramatically due to swimming pool fencing. Police insist this one was not negligence, just a tragic accident

I don't understand why someone would let a child in a car. .I don't care if the child is awake or asleep, they don't need to be left in a car.

i think that this is terrible although some parents do forget and say oh it's ok i'll be a minute but that's besides the point the child could die in a matter of them few minutes! if that were me, i definetly wouldn't leave my child in a hot car for 1 second. it's is good that the mother got charged because maybe she will realise that this is not good and probably won't do it again.

I won't even let my children alone for 30 second to run in a convience store. . .They either go in or I make sure another adult is with me.

People are getting more and more irresponsible with their children. I had a car that caught fire and totally burned in a matter of minutes, while my back was turned to it. I never leave my kids in the car even if it is for 30 seconds because of things like this. People think oh this could never happen to me - but it could! People please be careful with your children.

Wow I am glad you were out of the car, what a scary experience! That is the trouble, things can change so very fast and everyone thinks it wont happen to them
