how to win friends at work?

i am not a very friendly person. im new at work but i stay in my cubicle most of the the time. im not snobbish though. it's just that i prefer it better to be greeted first before i greet someone.
is there a way for me to be more approachable?

Obcourse there is always a way if your decided. I think the best way for you to do is start out when a simple hi and hello to everyone if not to someone in particular. Make friends to a certain person who are bubbly because most of the times those who makes friends easy are those person who are talkative as well. If your not talkative try to mingle with someone who are. Start with few friends and be open, don't be afraid to open up since it won't kill you anyway. Try to spend some time with other people during lunch time in that way you could know them as well. The best way to do it is your determination to make friends. If your not determined to make friends most probably you will just be in your cocoon for a long time.Even insects get off their cocoons when they feel that they should do it.
