Do you think spanking a child is ok or just doing time outs is enough. I'm not talking about beating a child but a spanking so he/she learns whats good and bad. A friends 2 children are out of control and she always says she doesn't know why they are like that but never punishes them, only yells and threatens

I have spanked my children, on rare occassions. I never threat, I promise my children. If I tell them they are gong to loose their toys or TV they know I mean it. In fact I don't have to tell them, I count. I don't even start with one, I say "2" and they stop it right now. However all in all I have good girls.
You have to set limits then enforce those limits. Sounds like your friend is just loud and that is probably all the children are thinking as well. Who cares if someone yells? Right?

well beating, threats and screaming are aversive things, my teacher once told me that she uses the talk treatment to the child and never babay talks him and she said that even if the chikd was only 2 years old he has different perspective than other 2 years old he was as she said more mature, talk and explain children are capable of understanding anyway.

We spank our children very rarely, usually in cases where they could have hurt thereself or they are being extremely Disrespectful...
